"If you've passed by the Old Train Station, now home to the Cowichan Valley Museum & Archives, you may have noticed the recent restoration work. The Train Station, a designated National Historical Building built in 1912, is one of the oldest Canadian Train Stations still on its original site.
Time had taken its toll on the building, necessitating significant restoration. In 2023, the Cowichan Historical Society, which owns and operates the Cowichan Valley Museum, restored the lower exterior. In 2024, they focused on the upper floor's shingle siding.
While the Historic Train Station is regaining its former glory, the restoration is ongoing. Funding relies on grants, which require matching funds and individual donations."
"We welcome your support and involvement in the Cowichan Historical Society, whether in person or through donations. Please reach out if you're interested."
