Renovations Inside the Cowichan Valley Museum – Jan. 30, 2024

Washroom renovationExciting things are happening at the Cowichan Valley Museum!

In the fall of last year, the Cowichan Historical Society (CHS) applied for the  Community Gaming Project Grant to undertake a needed renovation of the existing washroom located inside the Cowichan Valley Museum. CHS was successful in its application.

There were two gender specific facilities that were not accessible to those with mobility impairments. After consultation with a heritage building consultant, it was agreed that the existing space be amalgamated into one gender-neutral, accessible washroom.

Washroom renovationRenovations are underway and are expected to be completed shortly. The renovation follows provincial guidelines and includes several “green” features, including low-flush toilets, automatic faucets,  and motion-sensitive lighting to name a few.

The CHS is grateful to the local Lions Club for their generous donation of $5000.00 towards the cost of this project and to David Coulson of David Coulson Design Ltd. who is overseeing the project.
